RIP Denise COLUMBUS: Denise Colomb produced two major reports in Martinique, Guadeloupe and Haiti in 1948 and 1958.
The first trip was initiated by Aimé Césaire who gave him his first command with an invitation to join the centenary celebrations of the abolition of slavery in the French West Indies (1848-1948). She returned a decade later, with a command of the General Transatlantic Company and then also took color photographs.
These two reports, which deal with everyday life and customs West Indies, are all the most important theme in terms of quantity and quality (9100 shots) in the fund Denise Colomb, outside his work on the painters. These two dates (1948-1958) mark symbolically the great period of activity during Denise Colomb which she best expresses his humanistic vision.
Modestly, I am inspired by his work and I will propose a show B & W film to the next school year to Rostrenen.
